Relay for Life depends a great deal on sponsorship.

This year's target is to raise a minimum of RM250,000.00, and so we appeal to all corporate bodies and individuals to contribute to our fund and our campaign - and help fight cancer together.

Over the years, we have had wonderful support from a variety of corporate bodies and other organisations, including

who for the last two years (2008 and 2009) have been our leading corporate sponsor. They have become involved through various initiatives: including entering up to 30 teams; sponsoring tents, t-shirts, food, and other stalls at the Youth Park celebration; and generously donating Inspiron computers as first prizes for our Lucky Draw (and in the second year, as prizes for students raising the most money. Plus Dell have run a highly successful face-painting activity at the Youth Park event - you will see the results in many of the publicity pictures! Thank you to Dell.

Why you should sponsor

The incidence of cancer is high. Cancer probably already affects your employees, your customers, their friends and families. Getting involved in Relay for Life as a company or organisation will win you recognition as a key participant in the fight against cancer.

As a demonstration of social responsibility, involvement in Relay for Life will win you respect. Given that Relay for Life lasts some five months from Launch to actual Relay, it also provides an excellent time-frame for sponsorship mileage. It is a wonderful thing to do anyway but is also a great investment.

There are a number of ways you can get involved as a company or organisation:

• sponsoring Relay for Life materials, events or tents, where your name can be highlighted.

• forming one or more teams to take part in the Relay in March in Taman Perbandaran PP (Youth Park). Teams can choose their name and can design a (company) banner to carry on the day.

• organising a talk/exhibition about cancer – we can supply materials and speakers;

• showing the Relay for Life video to your staff or at a meeting;

• making a donation to Relay for Life.
