Sponsorship 2008

Relay for Life depends a great deal on sponsorship. To reach our target of RM500,000.00, we appeal to all corporate bodies and individuals to contribute to our fund - and help fight cancer together.

In 2008, we again had wonderful support from corporate bodies and other organisations, including

Dell, who came in as our major corporate sponsor in 2008. They sponsored a package that included covering the largest share of of our t-shirt costs, recruiting a major contingent of teams of employees and their families to the Relay event, sponsoring the Survivors and Volunteer tents at the site of the Relay, sponsoring two Inspiron notebooks for the Lucky Draw, sponsoring and manning a healthy food stall, running a very successful face-painting activity and organising a second-hand book stall.

This was a fantastic package, and we are highly appreciative of the efforts of all at Dell. Many thanks to them and we encourage everyone to check out Dell's products and services. (click here for a link to their web site)

Wawasan Open University, who again sponsored a significant number of our t-shirts and had a team, and whose presence in Penang opens up great opportunities for lifelong learning and to getting qualifications at whatever age.

Why you should sponsor

The incidence of cancer is high. Cancer probably already affects your employees, your customers, their friends and families. Getting involved in Relay for Life as a company or organisation will win you recognition as a key participant in the fight against cancer.

As a demonstration of social responsibility, involvement in Relay for Life will win you respect. Given that Relay for Life lasts some five months from Launch to actual Relay, it also provides an excellent time-frame for sponsorship mileage. It is a wonderful thing to do anyway but is also a great investment.

There are a number of ways you can get involved as a company or organisation:

• sponsoring Relay for Life materials, events or tents, where your name can be highlighted.

• forming one or more teams to take part in the Relay in March in Taman Perbandaran PP (Youth Park). Teams can choose their name and can design a (company) banner to carry on the day.

• organising a talk/exhibition about cancer – we can supply materials and speakers;

• showing the Relay for Life video to your staff or at a meeting;

• making a donation to Relay for Life.
